Lufthansa has discontinued Airbus A380 operations on 15 routes as part of its network and fleet optimization strategy.
The decision comes as the airline continues to adapt its long-haul operations, prioritizing more flexible and fuel-efficient twin-engine aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
Lufthansa had previously reintroduced the A380 on select high-demand routes following the pandemic. However, changing market conditions, operational costs, and evolving demand patterns have led the airline to scale back the aircraft’s deployment.
The move is expected to allow Lufthansa to improve efficiency while maintaining capacity through alternative aircraft types across its long-haul network.
